Seasonal Assistants recruited for 2025
Update: Thank you to everyone who enquired. We had lots of interest and enthusiasm for the 2025 positions which have now been filled. For anyone still keen to help we are always on the look out for volunteers to support on a more ad-hoc basis. Contact us for more info.
Every spring WildWise recruits 2 new Seasonal Assistant (SAs) to support our amazing event programmes of day events, overnight camps and professional training courses. This involves working with leaders to prepare, deliver and manage the events and activities, camp infrastructure, cooking, stores & kit maintenance plus other adhoc duties.
Most of the events the SAs support are seen in the the public event calendar. However aside from public events there are a normally a few private events e.g. school camps and corporate events. In addition we offer short professional training courses which the SAs are welcome to join and benefit from.
Typically the commitment is about 60-75 days over the year between March/April and November with the summer months are obviously the busiest with lots of events and camps happening.
This will include many weekends and evenings. The role involves physical work in all weathers and conditions. You will work mostly as part of a team but occasionally alone and will need to work with a range of clients, adults and children. Many of our events are in rural locations not well served by public transport so a driving licence and access to transport is essential.
Benefits:
This is a non paid role however the seasonal assistant:
- gains a huge amount of practical experience and guidance in camp and event management, bushcraft and camp craft skills plus working with private clients and the public outdoors.
- Is offered a free place on our year long Outdoor Leadership foundation course, Call of the Wild (worth £2795) plus
- can join any of our professional training short courses (worth over £1600). We do not have a training programme yet for 2025 however to get an idea of the range of courses see the 2024 short courses schedule here.
Previous outdoor experience is helpful but not required. More important is that you are a team player and have a can-do positive attitude. You will also need to be fairly flexible in terms of your availability to be able to join a wide range of events between March/April and November.
