This is a 2 day (16hr) course combining Unit 1 for the Emergency First Aid At Work and Unit 2 for the Outdoor Incident Management. It is a environment specific, hands on and practically based course.
It is suitable for those involved in Environmental Education such as Forest School Teachers, Outdoor Activity Instructors (as a requirement for keeping ML,SPA and BCU qualifications in date) and those interested in being able to respond to those ill or injured in a potentially remote situation.
The course will include:
- Incident procedure,
- Airway management,
- Heart problems,
- Circulation problems,
- Head, Torso and Limb Injuries,
- Medical Emergencies,
- Environmental concerns,
- Cold and Heat injuries,
- First Aid kits and
- PTSD.
Course leader
Hugh Bourne: an experienced & qualified Outdoor First Aid Trainer with MSc in Wildlife Management, an Advanced Certificate in Deer Management, a PGCE, First Aid Trainer in Outdoor, Forest School and Paediatric as well as FAW and EFAW courses
