Overview

Bushcraft is the art and craft of outdoor living. On this course you will join experienced WildWise staff and follow the bushcraft syllabus that sits at the heart of WildWise events and programmes. 

Topics covered will include:

  • various approaches to fire lighting and fire management; 
  • outdoor cooking; foraging for food and resources; 
  • shelters and camp craft; 
  • wild water sourcing; 
  • cutting tools and woodcraft. 

This syllabus facilitates a deeper connection to the environment we inhabit and nature awareness will also feature throughout, with opportunities to observe wildlife and improve your identification of plants and trees.

Who is it for?

Whether you are new to bushcraft or would like to brush-up or practice skills you’ve already begun honing, this will be a relaxed and rewarding opportunity for you. This is a course for 18+ yrs. For youth events and programmes, please see our events calendar.

Meals

Basic camp breakfast and evening meals are provided. Participants are asked to bring their own food for lunches and snacks.

Accommodation and facilities

This is a semi-wild camping-based course with basic facilities, including a compost loo and the offer of warm water for washing. Tents are available to hire on request. We will also have a covered fire area and a kitchen tent on site.
